Romelu Lukaku has ended his goal famine since changing to a pre-match meal of ham and cheese omelette.
The
big Belgium striker has been trying to shed weight after admitting that
he bulked up with too much muscle for the World Cup last summer.
It
is understood Lukaku’s change in diet means he has eaten an omelette
rather than a heavier pasta dish before the last three games — and ended
up scoring two goals in each.
It ended a barren run of nine games for
the 25-year-old, who was on the scoresheet twice against Crystal Palace,
Southampton and then Paris Saint-Germain in midweek.
Arsenal,
United’s opponents on Sunday, will not need reminding that Lukaku also
provided two excellent assists when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side won 3-1
in the FA Cup at the Emirates in January.
Asked
about the striker’s recent form, Solskjaer said: ‘We need Rom facing
the goal and not with his back to it. He’s been asked to play wide a few
times and provide more chances but now he’s more in and around the
box.
'We played with two up against
PSG — him and Marcus Rashford — and they might form a nice partnership. I
wouldn’t like to be a defender with those two running at me.’
