A trailer was set ablaze yesterday along New road, by Fovie lane, Sapele, Delta State after crushing a man and his 3 years old daughter and bike rider to death.
It was gathered that the truck was said to be trying to overtake the bike rider, when the accident occurred. The truck driver and another man inside the truck immediately ran into the bush before the truck was set on fire.
Some of residents were said to have carted away some content of the trailer. The bodies of the victims have been deposited in the mortuary.
The fatal accident sparked outrage among residents who witnessed the alleged reckless driving on the part of the Dangote truck driver.
This prompted them to set the trailer on fire immediately after the accident in protest to the deaths of the deceased persons.
Men of the Nigeria police force and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials arrived the scene to control the situation and also evacuate the corpses of the dead victims.
