Selena Gomez No Longer The 'Most Followed" Person On Instagram - Here's Who Has Dethroned Her!

The Instagram Queen has been dethroned! Selena Gomez is no longer the ‘most followed person on Instagram’ as another celebrity has surpassed her huge number of fans.

For the past two years, Selena Gomez has been the most followed person on the popular social media platform with over 144 million followers.

But now, she has lost that status to none other than Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo who, at this point in time, boasts nearly 20K more followers than the singer.

As you may remember, Selena was crowned the ‘Queen of Instagram’ back in 2016 after dethroning the one who had held that title before her, her close friend Taylor Swift.

But even though she is no longer the number one most followed person on the platform, it is possible Selena did not even notice considering she has been away from social media following her emotional breakdown.

Just last month, the singer announced her fans that she would take a social media hiatus in order to focus on herself and get some rest.

‘Taking a social media break. Again. As much as I’m grateful for the voice that social media gives all of us, I’m equally grateful to just be able to step back and to live my life present to the moment that I’ve been given.
