Manchester United are stepping up their attempts to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.
It's
claimed the club have met with Sancho's representatives over a
£70million summer transfer, with the winger thought to prefer a return
to England over France.
Sancho
starred for England in their 5-0 Euro 2020 qualifying defeat of Cezch
Republic at Wembley on Friday in what was a first competitive start for
his country.
Dortmund sporting chief Michael Zorc recently said the club were 'definitely planning for next season with (Sancho)' but The Sun claim the winger is at the centre of a tug-of-war between United and PSG over a summer move.
The former Manchester City winger has enjoyed a stunning breakthrough season in Germany, playing 34 games, registering nine goals and 15 assists.
He left United's cross-city rivals in 2017 in order to secure more game time, and has flourished in the Bundesliga.
He has also since broken into Gareth
Southgate's senior squad, and to date has four caps for England having
skipped the Under-21 side.
He was the
creator for Raheem Sterling's opener at Wembley on Friday, playing a low
ball across the box that was turned home by the winger.
Manchester United have reportedly declined the chance to sign Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho in favour of pursuing Sancho.
Countinho
has struggled to find his best form in Spain, and the Catalan giants
could be tempted to sell him on should they receive a suitable offer.
